The single use splice chuck grips the outside of the post tension strand and anchors the two strands together. The grip force capacity of the strand joiner exceeds the strength of the cable. The cable will fail /break before the strand joiner or splice chuck releases the cable from the wedges. This allows for quick and efficient repairs and re-routing of post tension cables as needed in building retrofits or for mechanical or plumbing or electrical changes within a building.
